Her eyes darken.

"And then you can make it up to me again tonight, when I tie you to the bed and fuck you until you break."

"Bastian," she moans.

"Keep saying my name like that," I grunt, sliding my hand up her thigh. "It makes me forget the way he was smiling at you."

"He wasn't smiling at me."

He was. But I love that she doesn't see it. I love that she's always too busy watching me to notice the way people look at her. And I really fucking love the way she's watching me right now, her eyes wide and dilated, her pulse fluttering…and my ring glittering on her finger.

Epilogue

Constance

Five Years Later

"What are you doing here?" I ask, glancing up from my desk as Bastian stomps into my office, muttering beneath his breath. He's supposed to be in a meeting with Ridley, Jareth, Jax, Gabe, Oliver, Jace, and Trystan right now. I have work to do, and I cannot do it with him in here because he makes it impossible.

We've settled into a…routine over the last five years. One where he tries like hell to monopolize my time, and I find ways to foil his attempts. But sometimes, I let him think he's won. Sometimes, I let him fuck me over my desk or drag me into his office to fuck me over his desk just like he used to do.

It doesn't feel so wrong now that he's my husband instead of my boss. But I do not have time for whatever he's got in mind today. Not if we're both taking time off when the baby comes.

Instead of answering, he turns to the door, shoving it closed. Two seconds later, the lock clicks into place.

"Bastian?"

"Just a minute," he grunts, placing both hands on my bookcase.

I watch in shock as the muscles in his arms bunch and coil as he gives the antique wooden shelf a big tug, hauling it several inches across the floor so half of it blocks the door.

"What in the world are you doing?" I cry, tossing my pen on my desk and jumping to my feet. Well, I try. But I'm eight months pregnant, so it's more like I fight for my life trying to stand on feet I haven't even seen in weeks.

He spins to face me, strands of his dark hair standing on end, as if he's been tugging the hell out of it all morning. "Hiding," he growls. "We're not moving that fucking bookcase until my goddamn cousins go somewhere else."

I stare at him, biting my bottom lip to keep from laughing. "So…I take it the meeting didn't go well?"

His blistering scowl is answer enough.

"What happened?"

"Haven needs to stop scheduling meetings with all of them at once, that's what happened," he mutters, stomping around my desk toward me. He stops complaining long enough to brush his lips across mine in a soft kiss. His hand slides across my belly in a silent hello to his little girl. "Honestly, baby. A motherfucker can only deal with so much at a time. And I cannot deal with all of them in my office at once. It's cruel and unusual punishment. Why are they even all here?"

"Because this is their vineyard too?" I remind him.

"They didn't all use to be here," he grumbles, wrapping his arms around me.

"I'm aware. Jace and Lucas were both stationed overseas," I say softly. "You love that they're home now." Jace came home not long after we got married, and Lucas followed shortly after. As much as he likes to complain about having all of his cousins and siblings here, I know he loves it. He's just not a big fan of having all of them in his office.

Honestly, I think that's the only reason Haven schedules these monthly meetings. They annoy the hell out of him. She says it's payback for all the ways he gets on her damn nerves seven days a week.

Some things never change…Bastian is one of those things. You'd think he'd have mellowed over the years. He has not. He's still a giant pain in the ass. But he's my pain in the ass. He's only soft with me and our babies. He loves us beyond reason. I know he adores his big ass, crazy family, too. But he still has no chill. I doubt he ever will.

I love him for that. Nothing makes me hotter than my husband when he's cranky as hell, glowering like he wants to set the world on fire just to watch it burn. I probably shouldn't get off on that, but who am I kidding? It's my favorite look on him.

"I'd love it even more if they'd stay the fuck out of my office. Since they won't, I've decided I'm not leaving yours today." He plants his hands on my hips, carefully turning me until I'm facing the desk. My stomach dips and spins, heat rushing through me. "If I can't get anything done, you aren't getting anything done either."
