After pressing the button on her key fob to unlock her SUV, she opened the driver’s door and climbed in.

As she secured her seatbelt, he leaned in and said, “Guess I’ll see you next Monday. I hope the rest of your night is a good one.”

“Same to you. And I look forward to next Monday… Blaze.”

She had considered trying to convince Cookie, the assistant manager, to open next Monday instead of her, but now she was rethinking that. She could always use the extra pay, anyway.

She had started an account a few years ago in hopes to eventually buy The Peach Pit from Laura. Once that opportunity slipped from her fingers, her only choice was to use those savings to buy or start a club of her own. Right now, what she had wasn’t enough, so doing some extra shifts might get her there faster.

With a smile that would cause any woman’s breath to catch, he tapped the top of the door frame with his hand, then shut it for her.

Danny continued to stand there as she started her Trailblazer and pulled away with a wave.

He remained in that same spot until she could no longer see him in her rearview mirror.

She was surprised to find herself looking forward to next Monday when she’d see him again.

Chapter Six

Sapphire leaned close, so she could be heard over the DJ’s loud music, and said in her ear, “Someone’s asking for you.”

“Who?” Mel turned to face her.

Sapphire straightened and wiggled her eyebrows. “Some hottie. Did you start dating again?”

Her hostess and fill-in dancer already knew that answer. “No.”

“Well, the man asking for you just might change your mind.”

“I don’t even know who it is, Phire.”

“But you will, when you go out to the lobby.”

Mel rolled her eyes. “Do you know what he wants?”

“You.”

Mel bumped her hip against Sapphire’s. “You really want my eyeballs to pop out, don’t you? Is that why you keep making me roll them so hard?”

The voluptuous brunette’s platform heels made her even taller than her five-foot-eight and Mel appear even shorter than her five-foot-five height, not including her three-inch pumps she had worn tonight. While hostessing, her employee wasn’t required to wear those shoes, but the men tipped her more when she was dressed to the nines. Like she was tonight and every night Sapphire worked.

The slinky, sequined, sexy-as-hell gown Sapphire wore was one of Mel’s favorite. The woman’s long, elegant back was completely exposed all the way to the top of her very firm ass cheeks, and the V neckline in the front—Hell, it couldn’t even be considered a neckline—plunged to below her belly button. Her very perky, double-D breasts were only held in place by double-sided tape.

Mel would borrow that dress in a second if it fit her. She didn’t quite have the same generous curves like Sapphire, who laughed. “Well, I could use a new set of peepers. My vision’s going to shit and it’s not like we have medical coverage here.”

“If you need to borrow the money for an exam and contacts, you know you can come to me.”

The Peach Pit’s hostess grabbed her arm and squeezed. “I appreciate you looking out for us, MJ, but you don’t have any more money than we do. If Laura was still here…” Her words drifted off on a sigh.

All of them missed the former owner.

Unfortunately, that was water under the bridge. They had to do the best they could with the situation handed to them. At least until something better came along.

If it was up to her, she’d start her own club sooner rather than later and pinch all the girls from The Peach Pit. She had no doubt if she opened up a new place, her stable of dancers would be instantly full and she could then steal the customers, too.

But… If she did that, she might end up with her throat sliced and dumped in some field or quarry. None of the Deadly Demons she met so far seemed to be good people.

Not a damn one.

Unfortunately, right now, they were all under that MC’s thumb.

“Should I let him in or will you be going out to meet him?”

“I’ll go out. He’s not a Demon is he?” She’d be surprised if her visitor was one since normally they wouldn’t ask to see her, they’d just barge right in and get in her face. Plus, Sapphire said he was hot. Mel hadn’t seen a “hot” Demon, yet. In fact, everyone she’d met so far was the exact opposite.

“Not even close. He smells good and looks good, too. Unlike those gross, handsy motherfuckers who treat us like we’re nothing more than pieces of meat who belong to them.”

Mel frowned. “Something new happen that I need to know about?” It wouldn’t be the first time those Demons tried to take what they wanted without permission.
