And when our eyes connect, I know for sure.

This girl …

I want her.

No matter the price.

CHAPTER 22

Aurora

When the door to the cell opens again, I don’t even care to look at the guard who shoves Beast inside. All I can focus on is him. The beastly man who saved me from death. Who protected me from my father’s men when I believed they’d come to save me. Who towered over me to stop the bullets from sieving straight through me.

Not his owner … me.

I hold my breath when his eyes land on mine, the air suddenly feeling too hot to breathe.

The door closes with a squeak, and the guard snorts. “And you choose this over a nice room? Enjoy your fucking cell, Beast.”

When the guard has gone back upstairs again, my lips part. “A nice room? What did he mean?”

His armor is still covered with the blood of his enemies as he rips down the wires and unbuttons the pieces, dropping all of it to the floor until nothing is left but cargo pants and a thin black shirt.

“I was offered the guest room for the night,” he replies, stalking toward me. “As a reward.”

“And?” I ask, thinking you must be mad to decline something like that. A cozy bed, a warm bath, a semblance of humanity.

“I don’t want it,” he says in a single breath, his voice so low it causes goose bumps to erupt on my skin. “I want to be here.”

Oh God. He truly has gone …

“With you.”

Mad.

I shake my head as he gets closer and closer while I bump into the wall. “But why?”

He’s right in front of me. “Isn’t it obvious?” He grabs a strand of my hair and brings it to his nose, taking a deep, sensual whiff, causing his eyes to almost roll into the back of his head. The groan that follows makes it hard to breathe at all. “I want you and only you.”

My pussy clenches simply from the sound of his voice.

I have to admit, the thought did cross my mind. Several times. But could I really give myself to this man? This beast?

He towers over me again, his chest pushing up against mine, and when his hand touches my cheek, my entire body zings with electricity.

God, why does my body respond the way it does to him? Why can’t I resist the urge?

He leans in, lips dangerously close, eyes open, hungry, ready to devour. “There is no reward greater than for you to be mine.”

His.

Oh God.

How badly my mouth wants to say yes.

And when his lips finally land on mine, my heart begins to sing.

How can something so wrong feel so right?

This beast of a man without a name, kissing me like I am the only thing in this entire world that matters to him, makes it impossible to think about anything but him.

But I know deep down inside that it can’t be true.

If we were outside this cell, in the real world, he wouldn’t choose me. No one would.

But here in this cell, I’m the only thing he has. The only reminder of a life beyond these walls. And I realize I too am succumbing to brief moments of pleasure in the dark.

My head is spinning, going round and round as fast as his tongue swivels around mine. I’m helpless and lost in the onslaught of emotions, of wanting him as badly as he wants me.

And it scares me so much that I pull back for a moment to gaze into his eyes, wondering if it’s okay. If it’s right.

But the way he looks at me makes me feel so out of this world that I can’t help but blush.

“Is it so bad to be here with me?” he groans, pressing delectable kisses against the left side of my lip, drawing out a kiss. “Am I that terrifying? That gruesome?”

I shake my head slightly, not wanting our lips to detach even though I know in my head we shouldn’t do this. But I can’t help myself anymore, and neither can he.

After seeing what he’d do for me, how he protected me with his own body, I want nothing more than to worship his.

“No, on the contrary. I just wanted to say thank you,” I mutter between kisses. “For saving me.”

My hand slides around his neck, and I pull him closer, kissing him back with as much fervor as he kisses me. My other hand slides down his firm chest, along every ridge of his muscles, until I find the edge of his shirt and snake underneath.

I can’t stop myself anymore. I need to feel his skin against mine. I need him to feel alive. To breathe. Because with every kiss, he steals more and more of mine.

It’s as if he can read my mind because he suddenly, and very roughly, tears off his shirt and chucks it in a corner, his muscles flexing with every move. And my eyes can’t stop taking it all in, almost tempted to lean in and take a lick.
