"I have a surprise for you," he says, deftly changing the subject, but because I like surprises, I’m game.

"Yeah?"

"But first, kiss me."

My heart beats a little faster when he releases my wrists, and my hands instinctively go to his shoulders. Today, he's dressed casually, but there's nothing casual about Adriano. The white tee he wears, as basic as men’s attire gets, shows off his tanned, olive skin. It's molded to his body, highlighting the definition of his shoulders, the broadness of his biceps, his chest, and those abs…

I run a hand down the side of his face, feeling the roughness of stubble against my hand.

"Come here," I murmur, drawing him closer to me. He leans in, and I'm wrapped in the scent of Adriano—masculine and rugged, clean and sporty, with just a hint of wealth and elegance. I have to get on my tiptoes to reach his mouth, but I brace myself against him and his hands around my waist support me.

I brush my lips against his, the gentlest of touches. But even this small connection makes my heart race madly. It flutters in my chest like butterflies, as a trickle of desire skates down my spine, and heat creeps up my chest. When my tongue licks his he groans and grips my ass with his huge palm. Let's just say, Adriano knows all my erogenous zones and makes very good use of them. My ass is number one.

"I should've pegged you for an ass man," I murmur in his ear, when I take my mouth off his with reluctance, for the briefest hint of a second. Then I kiss him again, and it feels like sunshine, and summer, and freedom.

That earns me a sharp spank. "I like what's mine."

I kiss his cheek, his jaw, and trail my tongue down the column of his neck, relishing the sound of his masculine groan. His hardened length between us, I grind myself against him.

"I missed you," I say in his ear, surprised that it's the truth. I've never missed a man before, and I wonder at how the two of us have laid down our weapons. For now.

"But that doesn't mean I'm gonna take it easy on you," I say. I quite like sparring with him.

"Good," he says in a growl against my ear. "Because if you start behaving yourself, I'll run out of reasons to spank your ass."

He groans when I reach for his belt and begin to unbuckle it. "Don't." His voice is a sharp rasp.

"But I want to," I whine, pulling the end through the metal buckle.

"Quinn," he says warningly. "If you decide to disobey me now—"

I know, I know. We don't have time for what that will entail.

"Has it been a long time for you?" I say to him.

“Long time for what?”

“Since you’ve gotten laid.”

"No, I fucked you in the car on the way down here, or did you forget already?"

"No, silly. I mean before that?"

Not that I'm complaining. Believe you me.

"You could say that."

I wonder if I'll ever get him to tell me anything personal about himself. I'm not sure if I want to, though, because that might involve me telling him personal things about myself. It's a lot easier to tell him what position I like to fuck in, or that I like chocolate, than it is to tell him about my past. I like to pretend that that is someone who isn't here anymore, who's been buried and dead a long time ago. It's easier that way.

"So, what's my surprise?" I say, doing what I'm best at, deflecting. Plus, I really do love surprises.

"I have your phone," he says, reaching for his back pocket. Only this is not my phone. This is a phone. A phone that looks like it could probably control the command center at Logan International Airport, for crying out loud. "What is that thing?"

It fits in the palm of my hand, so slim it looks like it will disappear, so sleek I want to kiss it. When I touch the screen, it springs to life. I've never seen anything like this before.

"A custom model. It's easy to use, and it's also the easiest way to keep tabs on you."

I cock my head to the side, curious about this latest development. "Keep tabs on me?"

"It's got tracking software installed in it. High-end stuff. The only person who can access it is me. You can use social media, but never from the club. I want to make sure that no one who contacts you poses a threat."

"Fair enough."

“I have access to your phone calls, your emails, your messages. If I had it my way, you would never leave my side. But I can't do that because it's impractical." He runs a hand through his hair. "There are other reasons, too. But you know you never leave the club without my permission, and without a detail on you, right?"
