Gabriel was talking again, but Alexei could not get his brain to tune into his voice. It was entirely focused on the hottie that had just strolled out of the house. He was tall; and his dark, thick hair had the tiniest sprinkling of gray at the temples. Laugh lines surrounded his mouth as it twisted into a grin. And then, he of course had the sweetest ass in tight pants. Well, the sweetest ass besides his own.

The stranger looked over the patio, checking out the crowd, but his eyes snagged on Alexei and kind of stuck. Alexei couldn’t help it—immediately, a smirk formed on his lips and his eyes went to half-mast. A little cock to the hip, chest out, and chin up. Yes, he was a flirt.

No, he hadn’t learned everything from his uncles.

This seemed to come from being naturally outgoing, and maybe a bit of a slut.

But just a tiny bit.

He couldn’t help it. He had a type.

And his favorite type was older men on their knees sucking his cock, followed closely by older men bent over and begging to be fucked.

“Whoa,” Alexei breathed.

“What’s wrong?” Gabriel snapped, breaking through the fog that had briefly claimed his brain.

“I think I just spotted me a daddy I’d like to bend over,” Alexei murmured, licking his lips as the man in question tore his eyes away.

“Alexei, I don’t want to hear this,” Gabriel groaned.

“I bet he’d be so sexy begging on his knees.”

“The job. You need to concentrate,” his uncle pressed.

Alexei sighed loudly. “I am. I was thinking that I might make him a treat for after work.”

“Worry about work first. If you survive the job, then you can play.”

“Then I guess I better get to work.”

Gabriel made a noise in the back of his throat, and Alexei had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from smirking even if his uncle couldn’t see it.

“Be careful, moya solnishka. Text me when you’re safe.”

His little sun. Something in Alexei melted. It had been a while since Gabriel had called him that, and it was usually only when he was worried.

“Always,” he promised and pushed the button on his earpiece to end the call. His uncle was right. He needed to concentrate. This wasn’t his first contract. He had a couple of dozen under his belt already, but he needed to treat each one like it was his first. He still didn’t have the years of experience that made his uncles the deadly men they were, but he was determined to live long enough to rival them one day. That was only going to happen if he was cautious with each contract.

Turning fully toward the crowd, Alexei carefully moved his gaze toward Gabor. The man was still seated on the sofa, but he was teetering on the edge, leaning forward as he spoke animatedly to his audience, the women on either side of him momentarily forgotten. With his target still untouchable, Alexei allowed himself to look for the sexy fox who’d entered the patio area a moment ago…but he was missing.

How was that even possible?

He’d shifted his gaze away from him for only a second. The man had been halfway across the patio toward Gabor, and there was no place for him to disappear. The arms dealer’s sofa was near one wall of tall hedges. The man would have had to go over the hedges to escape the outdoor seating area, and there was no way Alexei would have missed that.

Alexei slowly turned, smiling at a few of the other guests as he met their gaze, but he didn’t spot the other man. He hadn’t moved to another area of the patio. He had to have gone into the house, but how had Alexei missed him?

Gabriel and Justin would be so disappointed. Gabriel was adamant about keeping track of everyone who might have noticed him while on a job. And his uncle didn’t earn the nickname of Reaper by being careless.

He’d worry about sexy later. His main concern was Gabor.

The man seemed content to hold court outside where the temperature was more tolerable. Alexei finished his vodka soda and switched to water with lime. If Gabor was going to stay surrounded by people for an extended period of time, he needed to stop drinking and keep his thoughts clear.

He had a sharp mental list of ways to kill the man, from clean to extremely messy. He was hoping to keep this somewhat clean. Most of his early jobs had been so fucking messy—not only had he ruined clothes, but escapes had been an utter pain in the ass. All the blood and screaming.

To his surprise, Gabor suddenly jumped to his feet and declared in a loud and slurred voice that everyone needed to join him inside for champagne. No clue what the man was talking about when the catering staff had been wandering through the crowds of people all night with flutes of bubbling champagne.
